The Picture House strives to provide accessibility to all customers regardless of disability, however after the December flooding, which affected all of our stalls seating, we are only open upstairs.
We regret that there is no disabled access to the balcony seating, and access is via approximately 40 stairs. Once the re-opening date for the stalls is known, this page, our blog and social media sites will be updated.
Thank you for your patience during this time.
Updated 11th January
As our stalls seats are currently being replaced with new bespoke seating (in production), we cannot be certain that we will be able to offer STALLS (downstairs) seating for Live Broadcasts with level access for Rhapsody/Two Pigeons, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, La Traviata, As You Like It, Hangmen and Boris Godunov.
Please be aware that if the Stalls is not ready to re-open then all customers will be seated in the BALCONY (upstairs) area of the cinema. We regret that there is no disabled access to the balcony, and access is via approximately 40 stairs. Information on seating will be updated here once the re-opening date for the Stalls is known.

Please ensure to bring your winter warmers while we have limited heating (blankets and hot water bottles recommended!) . As always, cash only please, but we’d really appreciate it if you bring change/small notes if possible.
Finally, while we wait for our new dishwasher, if you bring your own mug all hot drinks are only 50p!
Thank you for your patience and support during this time.
Updated 30th December 7pm
Due to the collective efforts of the community and beyond we’ve made great progress in cleaning up after the devastating Boxing Day floods, and are well on our way to recovery – what a difference a day makes!
Today, the Picture House and Town Council staff cleaned the foyer and kiosk, the Friends of the Picture House committee cleaned the balcony and a whole load of volunteers of all varieties, with power tools and strength and at very short notice, came and unbolted the sodden seats – removing all 257 from the stalls.
We are now in a position to open our doors, and would like to invite you all to our not-so-grand reopening on New Year’s Day, launching the January programme as planned!
During this period only the unaffected original balcony seating will be available, meaning capacity is reduced to 230. This also means access is limited for those unable to use the stairs – thank you for your patience during this time if you are unable to attend for this reason.
Heating will be limited (unless we can get hold of some giant plug-in heaters…), so feel free to bring along a cushion, a blanket and your good spirit – the show will go on!
Thank you for your support, generosity and hard work – we’ve been overwhelmed with your response. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
