Cast: Alex Lawther, Martin Freeman, Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse, Jill Halfpenny
Adapted by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman from their phenomenally successful play, Ghost Stories is a barnstormingly entertaining anthology of creepy supernatural tales, inspired by the British portmanteau horrors of the ‘70s. Nyman is Professor Philip Goodman, psychologist and paranormal sceptic is driven to expose hoaxes and frauds. But his stance is challenged by an old file containing details of three truly petrifying hauntings – a night watchman’s (Paul Whitehouse) spooky encounter, a teenage driver’s (Alex Lawther) terrifying drive and a banker’s (Martin Freeman) tussle with unquiet spirits. Ingeniously crafted, Ghost Stories riffs on classic horror tropes to exhilarating effect.
