Dir: Camille Vidal-Naquet | France | 2019 | 97 mins | French
Cast: Félix Maritaud, Eric Bernard, Nicolas Dibla, Philippe Ohrel

Camille Vidal-Naquet’s acclaimed debut is a candid, erotic account of the savage realities facing a young sex worker. Félix Maritaud (120 BPM) plays a young, homeless gay hustler. On the streets of Strasbourg, absent a family and in poor health, he lives a reckless, volatile existence. But – sustained by his innate lack of cynicism – he is able to find some sweetness in his professional encounters, even as he longs for a more lasting love. Powered by a visceral, truly exceptional performance from Maritaud, Sauvage refuses to moralise about sex work, highlighting instead the possibilities for both brutality and tenderness in all human interaction.
