Cast: Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Armie Hammer, Terry Crews
A radically inventive and spirited satire, Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You addresses themes of everyday racism and workforce oppression with wit, wackiness and visual panache. Starring Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Tessa Thompson and Armie Hammer, it follows African American call centre operator Cassius (Stanfield), who whizzes up the corporate ladder after he discovers his unique ability to adopt a ‘white voice’. But as his career takes off, he discovers the costs of success are more than just alienation from his colleagues and his activist girlfriend Detroit (Thompson). Bursting with ideas, Sorry to Bother You offers a radical, absurdist commentary on the young African American experience.
