Dir: Jason Reitman | USA | 2018 | 96 mins
Cast: Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Ron Livingston, Mark Duplass
Juno director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody re-team for this fantastic comedy about a struggling mother saved by a millennial Mary Poppins. Charlize Theron is Marlo, days away from giving birth to her third child. “Everything’s great,” she mutters, but it isn’t. Fearing she’s approaching a breakdown, her brother Craig (Mark Duplass) gives her a night nanny as a gift. Hesitant to hire help at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis). Sharp, funny, and pleasingly strange, Tully is a marvellous film about the lies we tell ourselves to stay sane.
