Dir: Jennifer Brea | UK/USA | 2017 | 98 mins
A normally healthy 28-year-old, Jennifer Brea was completing a PhD and preparing to get married when a mysterious fever left her bedridden, but without a formal diagnosis. In this fascinating, Sundance award-winning documentary, she picks up her camera to explore the hidden world of chronic fatigue syndrome and its sufferers, abandoned by traditional medicine. Often filming from her bed, she takes to Skype to travel into a forgotten community, crafting intimate portraits of other families suffering similarly. What results is an honest, humane, inventive and very eloquent documentary that asks us to rethink the stigma around a mysterious illness that affects millions.
