Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker star in Denis Villeneuve’s (Enemy, Sicario) riveting, dreamily introspective sci-fi thriller. The world is changed forever by the arrival of aliens: as tall charcoal grey ships suddenly appear studded around the planet. The authorities put an elite team together, including mathematician Ian (Renner), US Army Colonel Weber (Whitaker) and linguist Louise (Adams), to deal with the situation. Should they go on the offensive, or can Louise break their code? Another superbly well-made, high-concept film from one of contemporary cinema’s most interesting directors, Arrival is – like all of the best sci-fis – an exciting, exploratory and audacious film.
The screening on Sunday 4th December (**) will be shown with soft subtitles projected onto the screen for the hearing impaired, and these are signified by a double asterisk on the website and n our monthly brochure. Please note all other screenings of these films are without soft subtitles.
