Four lifelong friends have their worlds changed by Fifty Shades of Grey in Bill Holderman’s directorial debut, a sophisticated romantic comedy. Diane (Diane Keaton) is recently widowed after 40 years of marriage; Vivian (Jane Fonda) enjoys her men with no strings attached; Sharon (Candice Bergen) is still working through her decades-old divorce; and Carol’s (Mary Steenburgen) marriage is in a slump after 35 years. All four find their lives turned upside down after reading the infamous erotic thriller at their book club – catapulting them into a string of outrageous life choices as they decide to chase pleasures that have hitherto eluded them.
