Winner of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Academy Awards 2014
Matthew McConaughey gives a career-best performance as real-life Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof, whose free-wheeling life was overturned in 1985 when he was diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. Woodruff’s search for alternative treatments helped establish a way in which HIV positive people across the country could access his supplies through his ‘buyers club’. An outsider to the gay community, Ron found an unlikely ally in fellow AIDS patient Rayon (Leto) and together they embarked on a battle with the medical establishment for dignity, education and acceptance.
