It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning from hero to fugitive and assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent. Following the death of his childhood love, Bruce Wayne is a wounded recluse, but criminal activity in Gotham City is at an all-time low. However, the mysterious Selina Kyle (Hathaway) begins to awaken Wayne from his brooding existence, and the arrival of Bane (Hardy), a masked terrorist with ruthless plans for Gotham, finally drives him out of his self-imposed exile, as Wayne decides the Dark Knight must rise once more.

‘With spectacle in abundance…this is superhero filmmaking on an unprecedented scale. A fitting epitaph for the hero Gotham deserves.’ – Nev Pierce, Empire *****
