Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher) gives a Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated turn in Paul Verhoeven’s similarly lauded Elle; an outrageously provocative, exhilarating and suspenseful psychological thriller. We meet Michèle (Isabelle Huppert) in her home as she is raped by a masked intruder, but the next day she gets up and goes to work (as the powerful CEO of a gaming company) as usual. Gradually we learn about her complex personal life and the dark family history that haunts her, offering a deeper psychological backdrop to her ability to maintain her outward composure and her growing desire to wreak violent revenge on her attacker.
