In 1970, Elvis Presley arrived at the White House, asking to meet then President Richard Nixon. What happened next is reimagined here in Liza Johnson’s immensely funny, engaging and nostalgic comedy. Michael Shannon brilliantly underplays his louche and charismatic Elvis, bizarrely keen to offer his services to Kevin Spacey’s baffled, curmudgeonly Nixon as – of all things – an undercover federal agent.
