Dir: Paul McGuigan | UK | 2017 | 106 mins
Cast: Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, Julie Walters, Vanessa Redgrave, Kenneth Cranham

Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, Paul McGuigan’s highly acclaimed drama follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Jamie Bell) and imperious, vulnerable, Academy Award-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening) in Liverpool in 1978. What starts as a vibrant, if unlikely affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover gradually becomes a more meaningful relationship, especially when life tests Gloria with events beyond her control. Tremendous performances by Bening and Bell (who enjoy a tangible chemistry) and from Julie Walters and Vanessa Redgrave in supporting roles anchor this warm, funny, endearing and bittersweet love story.
