Based on the best-selling and critically acclaimed novel of the same name by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Half of a Yellow Sun is set during the Nigerian-Biafran war of the late 1960s. It follows two middle class Nigerian twins, Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose), who go against their father’s wishes with the relationship choices they make. One falls for a married man; the other for a young political radical (Ejiofor). Set against a backdrop of national turmoil, their ideals and loyalties are tested as the conflict enters their lives.
