Following the release of his film North by Northwest in 1959, director Alfred Hitchcock (Hopkins) is accused of complacency by some critics, and so decides to create something unique that will shock everyone. Hitchcock follows the turbulent times surrounding the making of the director’s most famous film, Psycho, as his wife Alma (Mirren) grows tired of his flirtations with his leading ladies, and looks to forge her own path in life. Entertaining and emotionally engaging, Hitchcock is a glimpse into the life of one of the all-time great directors.
