Reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo, the award-winning Lu Over the Wall is a stylish, sweet and distinctive musical animation bringing humans and merfolk together with surprising outcomes. Kai lives in a small fishing town with his superstitious grandfather, who warns him of the dangers of the merfolk; but when confronted by bullies, Kai finds an ally in Lu, a fun-loving mermaid who’s vulnerable to sunlight. With a local seafood company threatening the town and a number of its inhabitants hostile towards the mer people, Lu, Kai and his friends must club together to ensure both communities survive. Featuring cute merdogs, musical mermaids and a giant humanoid shark.
