This vivid, sweeping biopic follows famous physicist and chemist Marie Curie during her most turbulent years, as she challenged the French establishment with both her scientific brilliance and her unconventional love life. In 1905: Marie (Karolina Gruszka) and her husband (Charles Berling) win the Nobel for discovering radioactivity but, after a tragedy, she must pursue their work alone. Struggling to retain recognition within the male-dominated scientific community, she fears her efforts may be quashed by damaging personal revelations. Featuring a superb performance from Gruszka as the alternately stoic and vulnerable Curie, it’s a timely reminder of a pioneer who spent her life breaking precedent in search of progress.
