Dir: Haifaa Al-Mansour | UK/Luxembourg/USA | 2017 | 120 mins
Cast: Elle Fanning, Douglas Booth, Maisie Williams, Ben Hardy, Tom Sturridge

Elle Fanning stars as Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein and one of the most extraordinary writers in British history, in Haifaa Al-Mansour’s darkly romantic biopic about her love affair with poet Percy Shelley (Douglas Booth). Raised by a renowned philosopher father (Stephen Dillane) in 18th century London, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (Fanning) is a teenage dreamer when she meets the dashing, brilliant Shelley. So begins a torrid, bohemian love affair marked by both passion and tragedy that transforms Mary and fuels the writing of her Gothic masterwork. Imbued with its heroine’s vivid, trailblazing spirit, Mary Shelley brings her to new life.
