Dir: Kelly Reichardt | USA | 2013 | 112 mins
Cast | Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, Peter Sarsgaard

Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) stars in this intelligent, provocative film from acclaimed US writer/director Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff) about a trio of eco-activists who plan to blow up a dam that’s damaging the local environment. Eisenberg is hyper-intelligent Josh, who teams up with rich-girl rebel Dena (Dakota Fanning) and Harmon (Peter Sarsgaard), an ex-con who lives off the grid – and Night Moves is the name of the boat they use to carry out their crime. With a gripping story aided by stark, beautiful cinematography and a haunting score, this is Reichardt’s most successful film to date.

Stages an intelligent debate on activism, radicalism and ethics, but most importantly makes the people who perform militant acts very human and very knowable” Jonathan Romney, Film Comment
