Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhall star in designer and filmmaker Tom Ford’s follow-up to A Single Man, a terrifically absorbing thriller that’s already getting rapturous reviews. It’s adapted from Austin Wright’s 1993 novel Tony and Susan and follows LA gallery owner Susan (Adams), unhappily married to wealthy Walker (Armie Hammer) when out of the blue, she receives an unpublished novel from her first husband Tony (Gyllenhaal). While Walker is out of town, Susan begins to read the novel, which becomes the film’s focus – a Texas crime thriller themed gloriously, brutally, around revenge. Also starring Michael Shannon, Laura Linney and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
“Tom Ford returns with wildly gripping revenge tale […] outrageously gripping and absorbing” ***** Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
