Arthouse filmmaker Harmone Korine, writer of cult 90s film Kids, directs his closest thing to a mainstream picture yet, with this fusion of exploitation thriller and American teen-dream satire. Four college girls fund their spring break getaway by robbing a fast food shack, but after a night of partying they are arrested on drug charges. The girls are bailed out unexpectedly by Alien (brilliantly played by James Franco), an infamous local gangster who takes them under his wing. Rough on the outside but with a soft spot inside, Alien wins over the hearts of the young girls, and leads them on a Spring Break they never could have imagined.
