The French Dispatch sets its scene in the fictional French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé, where the expat editorial staff of The Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun (Elizabeth Moss, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton and more) compile stories of European intrigue for their readers back home, led by their dedicated, eccentric editor (Bill Murray). One is the tale of a malevolent bearded convict (Benicio del Toro) whose surprising talent for portraiture captures the wandering eye of the art community. Another is a portrait of a student revolutionary (Timothée Chalamet) and the journalist (Frances McDormand) assigned to him; the third, a gangster odyssey involving a mishap-filled kidnapping performed by a low-level crook (Edward Norton).
