A haunting, tender and lyrical film about a young boy struggling to deal with his parents’ separation. On his 9th birthday Thomas travels with his mother to visit his estranged father who, since their acrimonious divorce, has adopted an isolated rural life in the Lake District. Thomas doesn’t understand the bitterness between his parents, nor does he understand his own dysfunctional behaviour as a cry for help. As a city dweller, his encounter with the natural world and his gradual understanding of the pivotal connection he provides for his ultimately lonely parents leads to realisation and discovery.
