Based on the bestselling novel by Patricia Highsmith (The Talented Mr Ripley) The Two Faces of January centres on charismatic con man Chester MacFarland (Mortensen) and his alluring younger wife (Dunst) during a vacation in Athens, 1962. While sighstseeing they encounter Rydal (Isaac) a young tour guide who is scamming female tourists on the side. When Rydal visits the couple at their exclusive hotel, he becomes embroiled in the more sinister side of Chester’s life, as his past catches up with him. A thoroughly entertaining and beautifully shot period thriller, featuring a dramatic finale played out in the back alleys of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar.
