Director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) and writer Diablo Cody team-up for the first time since the Oscar winning Juno, and have successfully composed another biting black comedy.
Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen fiction, who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Wilson).
When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school either.
“Smart, honest, sickeningly funny and supremely well judged in the writing, direction and acting”. – Angie Errigo, Empire
